The Liberty Presbyterian Church, near Powell, may or may not be famous nationally, but it certainly is a well-known landmark locally. The design was the dream of David Redding, the minister, who visioned a church that represented the birthplace of Jesus. It is a true bank barn and was built in the early 1990’s by local Amish led by Josey Miller, a legendary barn builder.

The interior is absolutely fascinating with the pegged wood floors, smooth-as-glass cherry pews with Scottish plaid covered seatpads, and massive strutural beams. The huge pulpit is an oak tree trunk. Nearby is a manger. There’s much more to see and the construction history of issues with local zoning codes and finding the large, straight trees is interesting reading.

The Church is located at the northwest corner of Rt 315 (Olentangy River Rd) and Home Rd. They welcome visitors and dress is casual.
