IT’S LIKE HITCHCOCK’S “BIRDS”

winter bird flocks

It’s that time of year when the starling flocks swarm from tree to tree to capture the fruit. They’ve been going through my neighborhood to munch on the tiny crab apples. This pear tree was loaded with tiny pears this year so the birds have been attacking it for the past couple days. There are about 10 robins who have also enjoyed the pears. Another hawthorn tree nearby has also been stripped as has the crabapple in the front. I like birds – which is why I plant these bird-friendly trees – but hundreds of starlings flying as one mass, is a little unnerving just like Hitchcock’s movie.
